Sandbagging in Winnipeg and surrounding area has begun! Call the City of Winnipeg at 311 to volunteer give your availability today! Or please fill out our volunteer form on the Volunteer page and someone will contact you as soon as possible.
Thank you to everyone who came out and supported our Face the Flood group in raising money for the Red Cross. It was a great success and the total amount we have raised will be posted within the following week.
Our group began as a leadership class motivated to show some kind of leadership in our community. It began as a good idea but suddenly grew into action for a good cause. In just over a month we have raised awareness in our University community, educated anyone we could about sandbagging, created contacts within the Red Cross and Salvation Army to further communicate with on how we as well as others can help this spring, raised a significant amount of money and most of all gained leadership skills we will forever be able to appreciate and further grow with.
Congratulations to our class and a big thank you to everyone who supported us and our cause… but the fight is not over yet! The flood is only just beginning. Contact the City of Winnipeg, Red Cross, Salvation Army or any small community organization that will be recruiting volunteers to help face the flood this spring. Stay tuned to your radios and newspapers for more information on helping.
Manitoba needs you!
